The CNMC has supervision and market control competencies in postal matters, aimed at ensuring, preserving, and promoting the proper functioning, transparency, and the existence of effective competition in this sector. Among other functions are:

  • Ensuring the universal postal service is guaranteed.
  • Verifying the analytical accounting of the designated operator and the net cost of the universal postal service.
  • Determining the amount of the unfair financial burden corresponding to the designated operator for providing the universal postal service.
  • Resolving access conflicts to the network and other postal infrastructures and services, among others provided for in current legislation.
