Competition

We preserve and guarantee the existence of effective competition in the markets throughout Spain, since this is fundamental  for proper functioning of a free market economy and for the well-being of consumers.

Functions

Anti-Competitive Practices

We investigate anti-competitive practices among companies, abuses of dominant positions, and other prohibited practices that have a negative impact on competition in the markets.

Leniency Programme

We offer a way out for those who have participated in cartels, in exchange for their help with ending these anti-competitive practices.

Economic Intelligence Unit

We apply data analysis and artificial intelligence for the ex officio detection of anti-competitive practices.

Anonymous citizen collaboration

Access to the 3 available channels, which preserve anonymity and confidentiality, and through which any citizen can report indications of anti-competitive behaviour.

Oversight

We oversee compliance with the Resolutions passed by the CNMC's Council, including payment of fines.

Merger Control

We monitor concentrations among companies to prevent these from putting competition in the markets at risk.

Coordination with Spain's Autonomous Communities

We collaborate with and coordinate our efforts with the Authorities on Competition from Spain's Autonomous Communities.

ECN / International

We collaborate as part of the European Competition Network (ECN) to help ensure compliance with regulations on this subject throughout the European Economic Area. We coordinate our actions with other international entities.
