Economic Reports on Legal Challenges
We have the authority to bring legal actions against the acts of Public Administrations and against any general provisions of a nature below that of law, whenever these may be contrary to the principles of efficient economic regulation and promotion of competition.
The Economic Reports on Legal Challenges are produced under the procedures for legal actions before the courts within the context of article 5.4 of Law 3/2013 or article 27 of Law 20/2013. These are expert reports by nature, and are produced by the Office of Economic Analysis (SAE in Spanish) within the context of its full autonomy and independence when producing economic and quantitative analyses.
The objective of the Economic Reports is to perform an economic and quantitative analysis of the restrictions on competition subject to legal challenges, as well as the effects of these restrictions, at times incorporating quantification of the costs that such restrictions entail for consumers. The goal being pursued is to strengthen the legal challenges pursued, and in this way contribute to the defence and promotion of effective competition and efficient economic regulation in the Spanish economy.
The Strategic Plan establishes strengthening of legal challenges as its Strategic Action #10.
