The public sector procurement activity reaches figures exceeding 10% of the national GDP and creates a market in which private companies compete to be awarded the goods, works, or services demanded by the public sector.

Ensuring competition in public procurement processes, in addition to being a legal imperative, encourages companies to offer higher quality goods and services at lower prices, which improves the efficiency of public spending.

Promoting competition in public procurement is a priority for the CNMC.
