The General Law on Audiovisual Communication, in its preamble, urges audiovisual communication services to convey an egalitarian, non-discriminatory, non-sexist, and non-stereotyped image of women and men.

The representation of women in audiovisual media refers to how women are presented and portrayed in television programs, news broadcasts, advertising, and other audiovisual content. This includes aspects such as the roles they play, the characteristics that are highlighted, and the stereotypes that are perpetuated.
